Photography
We use a variety of digital 35mm, medium format, and large format cameras and associated digital editing and printing tools to produce images for websites, brochures, PR and news releases, packaging artwork, corporate galleries, event documentation, and personal use.
We cover the range from small one-person private portraits to PR photos and artistic or musical group photos to large-scale event photography; we also do architectural photography, with an emphasis on domestic and commercial interiors. By concentrating on digital production, we bypass many of the costs associated with the more traditional approaches, and offer an immediacy, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness not available elsewhere.

Design
We use QuarkXPress, Illustrator, Photoshop, inDesign, etc., to produce effective ads, brochures, cards, posters, flyers, and other collateral for small businesses and individuals. Our emphasis is on combining a clean and clear visual design with copy that's as free of cliche and jargon as we can make it. We're experienced copy editors and (of course!) also understand the tricky details of digital images and their relationship to the written word. We can arrange high-quality printing locally in the Bay Area if needed, or work with your printers, or media / PR people directly.
Web Sites
For simpler small business and personal websites, we have a set of broad off-the-shelf templates that we tailor to the specific client and targeted audience with custom images, written copy, and client-specific structure and navigation. For more complex custom projects, besides basic HTML, XML, and CSS, we have a great deal of practical real-world experience with JSP, Java Struts, Javascript, PHP, Flash, and database-backed (dynamic) websites; we've also become Apache web server setup and administration experts.
We emphasize clean visual design and simplicity in style and implementation, and believe that a simple, well-structured, good-looking website can make all the difference to the way your company or personality is perceived. We understand the role of such a website for small businesses (and how it typically ties in to broader marketing strategies and budgets), and are realistic about the resources typical small businesses can devote to getting or maintaining a web site. We are also able to arrange associated hosting, email, forms processing, etc. services for your website if needed.
Packages
Our standard packages vary somewhat depending on the type of service required, and can generally be tailored according to your needs without additional expense. Package costs typically depend on factors such as:
- Package type -- is this a personal portrait, a small business web site, a corporate PR shoot, an event shoot, an interior architectural shot with the view camera, etc.?
- Turnaround -- do you need it yesterday, or can you wait until tomorrow?
- Location -- is this an "environmental" portrait (i.e. outdoors), or a studio shoot, or taking place at a crowded event with tricky access and lighting?
- Deliverables & media -- do you want long-lasting Iris or inkjet prints, 4x5 or 35mm transparencies, hi-res TIFF image files on DVD-R, or medium resolution JPEGs delivered across the net? Do you want us to arrange the printing of your brochure, or do you just want PDF or Quark files? Or all of these?!
- Hosting services, etc. -- if this is a web site, do you need it hosted for you? Will you need email and forms support? Etc.
